Particulars of Organisation, Function and Duties

1.         Aims and Objectives of the Organisation:

 

There is a District Sports Office in every district which is run under the control of the Directorate of Sports & Youth Services, Orissa, Bhubaneswar and generally under the charge of the collector, who may entrust the executive control to a District Sports Officer or any other Officer subordinate to him. The main objective of the District Sports Office is to conduct various Sports & Youth oriented Schemes/Programme of the Government of Orissa, Deptt of Sports & Youth Affairs in a success manner.

 

2.         Mission / Vision:

 

The District Sports Office of a district keeps the organisation wise accounts of Sports Activities  under its control. At the end of the year total achievements of the district in various Sports & Games along with the receipt and expenditure of the distinct for the same are send to the Directorate of Sports & Youth Services, Orissa, Bhubaneswar for incorporation of activities & achievements for compilation of the state account of sports & games. It is also the mission of the District Sports Office that, different kinds of competitions are to be conducted for scouting of Sports Talents within the district. Brief reports are made correctly and send in time to the Directorate of Sports & Youth Services, Orissa.

 

3.         Brief History and Back Ground for its Establishment:

Sports Office, Deogarh was up graded as District Sports Office w.e.f 01.04.1994. Prior to up gradation, this was under the control of District Sports Officer, Sambalpur.

5.         Allocation of Business :

Director of Sports & Youth Services, Orissa, Bhubaneswar is the head of the Department in respect of  Sports & Youth  Affairs of the state.

The responsibility for proper management and working of a District Sports Office vested entirely with the collector of the district. He is personally responsible to the government for due accounting of all Grant-in Aid Money received & disbursed and for sate custody of government properties.

The District Sports Officer shall be the immediate executive of the District Sports Office. He is responsible to the Collector for the working of the District Sports Office.

 

6.         Duties to be performed to Achieve the Mission.

Different kinds of Schemes & Programme for promotion of Sports and Games are received in the District Sports Office for its proper implementation. Those are scrutinised and verified by the District Sports & Youth Advisory Committee before implementing by the District Sports Officer. The payments are made to the different firms under different heads of accounts within the funds allocated by the government for the purpose. It is also the responsibility of the District Sports Officer to make the various programme of the Govt success and to keep the programme wise receipt & payment accounts correctly.

 

7.         Details of Service Rendered :

Applications from Sports Related Organisations for the Govt. Grants are received at the District Sports Office and after verification the proposals are recommend to the Government Deptts. 

           

8.         Citizen Interactions - District Sports Office shall conduct the various sports programme with active participation of the local sports experts and associations.

District Sports Office is functioning in a part of the Collectorate Building, Deogarh. It is only ½ km away from the Private Bus Stand and is situated towards east direction. It is also about 200 mtrs. walkable distance towards North from Kacheri Chowk on the Mumbai-Calcutta National High Way No- 6 .

 

11.       Working Hours both for Office and Public.

The working hours of office are from 10.00 AM to 5.00 PM with launch break from 1.30 p.m. to 2.00 p.m.

           

12.       Public Interaction if any - District Sports Office is well linked with various Sports Clubs/Associations of this District.

 

13.       Grievance redress mechanism

Any person can obtain information related to the Sports & Youth Affairs of this district through personal contact with the District Sports Officer.
