Particulars of organization, functions & duties. (Section 4(1)(b)(i)

1.           The information & Public Relations Department serves as a link between people and the Government. This Department not only informs the public on the plans policies and programmes of the Government, but also endeavours to ensure people’s participation in the successful implementation of different developmental programmes. To implement these programmes and to make them people oriented, the Department also functions at District and Sub-Divisional level.

In the District important news on various meeting release to press reporters for public awareness, organise national celebrations, important meetings, sale Utkal Prasanga and Orissa Review, submit press clipping to the Collector, attend law and order of urgent nature of work as and when required etc. 

2.    Brief history of this office.

  This office was created originally in the year 1989.  Before that it was under Sambalpur District.

Procedure followed in decision making Process Section 4(1)(b)(iii)

          Letters/applications are being received by the Officers present in Hqrs. During office hours working days only. There after said application is being diaries by the dealing Assistant. Then it is given to concerned dealing Assistant who makes an entry in his logbook which he maintains regularly.

          Thereafter, the Dealing Assistant put up the matter with his notes relating to its history if any, the prescribed provisions of law, rules and govt. circulars relating this issue, present position and availability of funds if it involves financial expenditure and how far it is permissible under the provisions of the law and rules. Then the files placed to DI & PRO, if the matter is important, the file may be submitted to Collector for further action at their end and other letters disposed at the DI & PRO level within 15 days.
