1.         Aims  and objectives of the  organization:-

             The issue of child labour has attracted enormous significance both at State & National Level. The pro-active policies of the Govt. of India followed with the land mark judgment of the Hon’ble Supreme Court of India on 10th of Dec’96 in writ petition No.465 of 1986 i.e. M.C.Mehta Vrs. State of Tamil Nadu & Others have enlightened all concerned. National Child Labour Projects are the resultant action of the said policies through which withdrawing working children from hazardous occupations, educating them in the NCLP Schools - mainstreaming them into formal education, finally making them morally & socially responsible citizens of the society are done.

2.         Mission /Vision:-

(a)    (a)    To achieve elimination of child labour in hazardous occupations and process.

(b)   (b)   Identification of child labour and stricter Enforcement of Relevant Legislation

3.   Brief  history & back ground for its establishment

National Child Labour Project, Deogarh came up as a Society registered under the society registration Act, 1860 on dt.08.09.1995 with the Collector & District Magistrate, Deogarh as the Chairperson. Sri Niranjan Kumura District Labour Officer is being entrusted with the job of execution of the Project. The Project directly receives funds from the Ministry of Labour, Govt. of India, New Delhi. Its functions are governed by its memorandum of association and bye-law.

6.   Duties to be performed to achieve the  mission:-

(a)    (a)    Vigorous   Inspections to enforce the child labour (P & R) Act. 1986 and the Project.

(b)   (b)   To undertake fresh survey to find out child labours in the district with a view to enroll them in 40 child labour special school & mainstream them in the formal school.

(c)    (c)    Rehabilitation of child labour.

(d)   (d)   Economic rehabilitation of the Family with child labour.

(e)    (e)   Coordination and implementation arrangements.

7.   Details of services rendered :-

 

      Till 2008-09, 8605 no of child labour have been enrolled and rehabilitated through the 40 NCLP Centres throughout the District. 6605 no of students have been mainstreamed to higher education by 2007-08. The child labours students enrolled in the NCLP Centres are being given Mid Day Meal and a tiffin of Rs.5/-.The child labours students enrolled in the NCLP Centres are being given Mid Day Meal and a tiffin of Rs.5/- day along with Rs100/- as stipend per month. 

 

8.   Citizen Interaction:-

 

(i)                  (i)                  Canvassing   among the Citizens about the evils of  the Child Labours .

(ii)                (ii)               To conduct Awareness Generation programme among the Parents and Public.

(iii)               (iii)               To  conduct parents meeting to encourage the child labour students to attend the Centre regularly.

The Office is situated in the east direction of the  Town on N. H.-6 towards Keonjhar at Rajamunda chowk of Deogarh. Municipality.

As per the 10th plan guide lines issued by the M/o Labour, Govt. of India the working hours of the project personnel should not exceed  5 hours a day so that they can work elsewhere.

Public interaction is being undertaken in the Focus meeting held at the Panchayat level and in the Parents Meeting at the GP level.
